27 Years of German Audio Science
Algorithmix GmbH has pioneered professional audio DSP since 1997 -- from the first linear-phase EQ plugins to spectral restoration tools trusted by forensic labs and mastering studios worldwide.
Pioneers of Linear-Phase Audio Processing
In 1997, Dr. Christoph Musialik and Dr. Ulrich Hatje founded Algorithmix GmbH in the small German town of Waldshut-Tiengen, on the banks of the Rhine near the Swiss border. Their mission: to apply rigorous mathematical science to the art of professional audio.
The company quickly established itself as a pioneer in linear-phase equalisation -- a technique that preserves the phase relationships of audio signals while providing surgical frequency control. Their PEQ series became a reference standard among mastering engineers.
Algorithmix also developed groundbreaking spectral restoration tools, including the reNOVAtor -- capable of surgically removing individual sonic artefacts from a recording without affecting the surrounding audio. This technology found applications far beyond music: forensic audio labs, broadcast facilities, and national archives adopted Algorithmix tools for critical restoration work.
Today, with algorithms licensed to partners like MAAT Inc. and a patent portfolio that includes US Patent 7,076,071 (K-Stereo ambience processing, developed with mastering engineer Bob Katz), Algorithmix continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in digital audio.
